I don't use the colour red in my art as often as I use other colours. Honestly, it's not one of my favourites. There is, however, something about deep rich reds, velvety dark burgundy and crimson that I am very drawn to.
This painting was all about using colour palette of deep crimson, white and black, and building up the layers of texture, strokes and marks.   Â
Looking at the finished painting made me think of those lovely days when you get an early start under a lush red sunrise.Â
