I love the energy and sweep of the dominant brushstroke in this painting. It's made even more striking with the monochromatic black & white palette and just a few touches of phthalo turquoise.
I called the painting Memories of a Song due to the slightly hidden torn and worn paper fragment with its few remaining faded bars of music. It makes you wonder what the story is behind that music? What memories does that fragment of paper hold?
Although it has that hint of the past, this is a very contemporary artwork, full of strong lines, strokes and visual textures.
Does this artwork bring a song or a story to your mind?
